In the last couple days, has dropped TONS of new details on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In this blog we’ll try to touch on some of the more exciting news, including characters, food, merchandise, and of course the rides!

Characters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

What would a Star Wars land be without seeing some of our favorite characters from the film franchise? Crowd favorites like Rey, Poe, and Finn have been confirmed to be in the Rise of the Resistance ride, but it is unconfirmed how exactly they’ll be present. The original actors have returned to reprise their characters. Kylo Ren and BB-8 will be “live and in-person!” in Rise of the Resistance.

Stunning technological advancements in audio-animatronics have allowed Imagineers to create extremely lifelike Star Wars characters that inhabit Batuu. Hondo Ohnaka (from Rebels) is our first look at these animatronics for Galaxy’s Edge. Creatures and characters from all over the galaxy will be joining you on your adventure in Batuu.

Food and Drink

With five different restaurants, there will be plenty of options for each of your galactic travelers. A first outside of the exclusive Club 33, Disneyland will have alcohol in Galaxy’s Edge. Early reports from Disneyland indicate that drinks must be consumed within the restaurants only (in-line with Magic Kingdom’s alcohol policy).

Any fans of the original Star Wars: A New Hope out there? The classic “blue milk” served by Aunt Beru will be available! Anyone in the South knows that dairy + Florida heat does not equal a good time, but of course Disney has thought of that. It will be made from “plant-based dairy”, which is a huge plus for all the vegan and lactose-intolerant guests!

From clothing to toys, lightsabers to droids, there is merchandise for every age (and budget) coming to Batuu. I think it will be almost impossible to leave Galaxy’s Edge without taking home something!

The adorable toys seen above will be found in the toy shop run by the Toydarian Zabaka. Items include “plushies of Star Wars heroes, musical instruments that can be played and come pre-loaded with in-universe music, and trinkets like a wood-carved convor”. Interesting to note that none of these items will come in packaging because on Batuu, “toys are handmade.”

Black Spire Outfitters is a new clothing boutique that will offer mix and match Jedi attire! You can either choose the pieces of your favorite characters, or create an outfit that is totally unique.

Bina’s Creature Stall will have many loveable and adoptable animals from the Star Wars universe including tauntauns, rathars, and more!

Savi’s Workshop is where you will be able to create your own one-of-a-kind lightsaber, complete with kyber crystal at its core. These will probably be different than the current offering at Disney Parks, and will most likely feature interactive capabilities.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Overall, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be the largest themed-land expansion in Disney Parks history. We anticipate wait times and crowd levels we haven’t previously seen before. Fans everywhere are on the edge of their seats trying to plan a trip for a land, even though no official opening date has been set. As soon as an opening date is announced, you can bet we will let you know! As of right now it opens at Disneyland in summer 2019, and Walt Disney World in fall 2019.
