Disney’s Aladdin Comes To Broadway
Broadway’s newest musical is based one of our favorite Disney classic movies, Aladdin.
Aladdin is the story of a young street urchin, Aladdin, played by Adam Jacobs, who wants to marry the Princess Jasmine, Courtney Reed, and is helped by Genie, James Monroe Iglehart, to defeat Jafar, Jonathan Freeman, to become the man who can and does end up with the Princess. Not a new comer to Broadway, Jacobs has been on Broadway since the age of 13 and has stared in shows like The Lion King (Simba), Cinderella (Prince) and Les Miserables (Marius).Excited by yesterday’s news of Disney’s desire to have a Broadway musical based on Frozen, I was even more excited to see this announcement. If this is anything like the Aladdin show at California Adventure at Disneyland, then we are all in for a real treat because I couldn’t stop laughing.
Aladdin opens February 26th at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York and is currently scheduled to run through August 31st, 2014. There are no current plans for a tour of Aladdin.
