Disney Springs Transformation Update
On March 1, 2013 Disney announced Disney Springs, a major update to the Downtown Disney entertainment area. Downtown Disney includes the Marketplace, Westside and Pleasure Island This major renovation will almost completely remove the existing Pleasure Island. It will also make major changes to the rest of the complex.
In this update, major changes are already underway. A multi-level parking structure is in construction. This will alleviate the current parking situation as well as make up for some of the parking which will be removed due to expansion.
Demolition of the Pleasure Island structures are underway. The Comedy Club, ’70s dance club, the store next to Mannequins, the Beach Club, and the White Horse Saloon (aka Fireworks Factory) have been torn down.
If you are planning on visiting the area during construction we suggest you park down by Cirque du Soleil. They have also created a new parking lot across the street by the Team Disney building (has a huge round tower on the front). Parking down there is very hectic as usual, but the construction add to the problem. If you are staying at a Disney resort, we suggest you use Disney transportation.
The mornings at DTD are usually the slowest, so going early will bring much reward.
Disney Springs will soon look like this:
Scheduled to be completed some time in 2016, DS will bring a new exciting atmosphere to the area. We will keep you updated with new pictures along the way that will include pictures of the parking structure, as well as some better looks of then two new Starbucks. New and exciting stuff happening all around the WDW complex.
