New Security Measures Coming Soon To Disney Parks

Disney Parks Brace For New Security Rules

As happy families everywhere start to pack their bags for a summer full of fun, the Walt Disney Co. has announced plans for further increases in security in their theme parks. The first of these measures will start in two weeks and will take effect in all six US based theme parks.

In 2015 Disney added metal detectors to the entrances of its parks, guests are randomly screened prior to entering the turnstile area. This security measure added to the bag check which started shortly after 9/11. The bag check is currently performed on all guest bags prior to entering the park.

In addition to the metal detectors, Disney also banned Selfie Sticks, costumes for adults, masks, swords and toy guns in 2015. They also stopped selling toy guns in the parks. These guns have been a popular purchase for boys since the park opened in 1971.

As of April 14th, guests entering Disney parks in California and Florida will be required to surrender all liquid filled containers. This includes water bottles, soda bottles, prepackaged juices and other beverage containers. One exception will be expressed milk for breast fed babies under the age of 2 years. For guests having special medical needs, a drop-off of medically necessary beverages can prearranged though Guest Services.

“We continue to place guest security at the top of our list when it comes to introducing new security measures in the parks,” stated Joe Fox, a Disney spokesperson. Mr. Fox continued, “We have decided to give our guests a two week notice in order to allow for guests to rearrange their plans. In addition, we are offering a $.50 per bottle discount on all waters purchased in the parks to help defer any costs to our guests for the next year.”

As always, guests are welcome to ask for a glass of water, at no cost, at any quick service location, as well as enjoy any one of the chilled water fountains throughout the parks.

Further security plans will be released throughout April as they gear up for a Disney Summer!

So Many Cool Adventures Coming Your Way at Disney

8-19-2015 10-42-44 AM

I am so excited to hear the new adventures coming your way at the Disney Parks and Resorts. Not only will we be getting a Star Wars Land in Florida, but also one in California. Bringing Star Wars to life will be a huge expansion for the Disney and Star Wars partnership.

Coming next year will be an all new Sorin’ Over The World. This magical journey will add to the Sorin’ Over California adventure in both parks.

Toy Story Land will be making a big expansion to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With the current expansion of Toy Story Mania opening later this year, we can expect lots of cool adventures to come, including an Andy sized room where you are made to feel like a toy.

Disney will continue to integrate the Marvel brand into the parks as they are working on an Iron Man ride.

Of course, lets not forget the coming Avatar Land opening in the coming years. This high tech adventure will make you feel like you are on Pandora.

runDisney Frozen Princess 5K – Princess Half Marathon Weekend

frozen family 5k princess half marathon weekend If you have been paying any attention lately to the world of Disney, you will have noticed that Frozen has been a mad success. So much of a success, that Frozen has taken control of almost the entire Hollywood Studios Park for the entire summer. The Frozen Summer Fun includes a special sing-a-long with Anna and Elsa, a parade, a Frozen Funland and a special Frozen Fireworks to cap off the day.

Frozen merchandise has been flying off the shelves and the lines to see the Frozen Duo Anna and Elsa has been crazy, sometime reaching 5 hours.

For the inaugural Enchanted 10K during last year’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend, Elsa even made a special appearance at the beginning of the race.

Each year for the Princess Half Marathon, they change up the Princess 5K with a different princess. Recently they have renamed it from the Royal Family 5K to the Princess 5K. Last year it was Cinderella, in 2011 it was Mickey and Minnie Royal Family 5K. This year, could it be the Frozen 5K. Signs are there, but there is no telling, as runDisney keeps their races quiet until they are ready to Let It Go. We are also thinking that there is a possibility of the Enchanted 10K becoming the Frozen 10K, but this seems a bit less likely.

Have fun racing and don’t forget that this week marks the opening of registration for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend!

How To Hunt Easter Eggs at EPCOT 2014 *****SPOILER ALERT*****

This year Epcot had a fun Egg-sperience where guest are given the opportunity to go on an Easter egg hunt around the World Showcase. Guest can purchase a map/stickers for $4.95 (see photo) and with this purchase you also get a special surprise (see photo) when you are finished.

In the gallery at the bottom of the page we have chronicled all the locations of the Easter Eggs at EPCOT for 2014. There is one in each of the World Showcase countries, plus one at the Outpost, making 12 total. Most of them are easy to find, but a few are well hidden. Some are on the ground and some up high, but all are out of the reach of the guests.

Anna And Elsa Leaving EPCOT Frozen Over

Anna And Elsa Leaving Epcot For Magic Kingdom

Yes, you heard that right, Anna and Elsa are leaving Epcot’s Norway Pavilion. If you pull up the schedule in My Disney Experience, you will notice that on April 19th they have a full schedule of appearances, but on April 20th they mysteriously disappear from the schedule. Are they completely removing the famed characters from the Top Grossing, Award Winning Movie Frozen?

Don’t fret Frozen fans, let your heart not be troubled. Rumors have it that Anna and Elsa are moving to new digs over at the Magic Kingdom inside Fairytale Hall. Back in Fantasyland, where Snow White’s ride previously was located they have built the new Fairytale Hall where you can see your favorite Disney Princesses. Anna and Elsa will be paired with Aurora on one side. They will move Snow White out to a floating location elsewhere in the park, according to rumors.

Great Perks for your Walt Disney World Vacation at Destinations in Florida

Disney is scheduled to make this announcement official tomorrow. So if you are interested in seeing the dynamic duo, I would suggest holding out for the 20th of April and they will more than likely have a faster queue and not too many people will know they have moved.

Dapper Day Hitting Walt Disney World March 9th

Dapper Day at Walt Disney World

When we went out to Disneyland last fall to run the Dumbo Double Dare we noticed on one of the days we were there that there were a lot of people dressed to the nines in 50’s outfits. We wanted to know what was going on, so we asked one of the people. They told us that this was an unofficial thing that they do at Disneyland a couple times a year. It started  through social media and has now become a regular event. They pick a date for everyone to head out to the parks and just dress up. The outfits were just amazing!

Well come to find out that Dapper Day is coming to Walt Disney World on March 9th, 2014. Whether you like dressing up or just people watching, then this is the day for you. Not only is it Dapper Day, but the premier of the new Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade in the Magic Kingdom. Talk about some Dapper outfits, the costumes for the new parade will fit right in with the Dapper Day theme.

While still unofficial, there was themed merchandise as the at the last Dapper Day at Disneyland, along with a boutique where you could get all dolled up. So it is still to be seen whether it will become official, but it looks hopeful.

We look forward to seeing you out there in your Dapper Outfit as we cheer on the new parade!

How To Build A Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth EPCOTspn928012SMALL

We were out at EPCOT last weekend and the subject up on how they built Spaceship earth. So I took a dive into the Internet archives and found a few photos of the construction of this massive structure and a couple interesting facts to.

Did you know:

  • The outside is made up of 11,324 triangle shaped tiles.
  • Construction took 26 months and 40,800 man hours to complete.
  • The pylons which support the structure are sunk 120 feet into the ground.image151
  • The sphere’s diameter is 165 ft
  • The sphere’s circumference is 518.1 ft
  • The volume is 2,350,000 ft cubed
  • The structure weighs 15,520,000 lbs.
  • All the water collected from the structure is funneled through a gutter system that takes the water into the World Showcase Lagoon.
  • The structure is 18 stories tall.
